First Baptist Church of Gilmerton
The Youth Ministry works with youth from all different socioeconomic backgrounds in an effort to provide support to youth of all ages through consistent fellowship engagements, mentoring, education and field trips. Additionally, the ministry works to promote not only spiritual growth but mental, emotional and physical well-being. This ministry strives to set a foundation that provides youth with encouragement and support in their everyday lives. This is done through four sub-ministries:

Youth Connections
In an effort to equip youth with the necessary tools to combat peer pressure, low self-esteem and deviant behavior, the Youth Connections Ministry, provides a safe place where youth can actively learn, fellowship, and grow. This ministry consistently communicates with the adolescents to provide encouragement, reassurance and positive mentors as direct support to youth dealing with the rigors of living in a society where religion is sometimes frowned upon. The Youth Ministry, through this program, promotes spiritually, emotionally and physical well-being through psycho-educational group sessions and bible based lessons geared towards providing guidance to ensure success. This program meets twice a month on Tuesdays and youth are encouraged to come out and be a part of this ministry and movement. It is our hope that through this ministry we will invoke positive change in the lives of our youth.
Youth Ministry
Engagements
The Youth Ministry provides various outings/events for youth of the church and community including but not limited to the following:
Movie Nights Camping
Youth Retreats Skating
Picnics Youth Trips
Socials Banquets
Carnivals Lock-Ins
Harvest Festival
These outings/events are open to ALL youth and their parents. Each event is generally FREE of charge or offered at a discounted rate. Our philosophy: “Youth and their families who are willing to participate, but lack the means will not be turned away”. The Youth Ministry is constantly seeking ways to help indigent families in any way possible to ensure youth are given every opportunity to participate in Youth Ministry Engagements.
Kids Korner
In an effort to provide a place where youth can grow in Christ, we have created a children’s church ministry that serves youth ages 2-8 years old. Each Sunday, youth are provided a place where they can enhance their knowledge about Christ through planned lessons, activities and fellowship. Snacks are also provided.
Each One Reach One Outreach Ministry
This ministry provides youth with an opportunity to participate in giving back to community while serving others. Youth learn the importance of servitude, humility and selflessness. This is done by a series of planned events and projects coordinated by the Director of Outreach/Fundraising.
